Details about the printing and compounding process of mylar bags that you don’t know

Bullet Points

1.Mylar bags advantage
As long as you walk into a convenience store, you can see shelves filled with various mylar bag with different patterns and colors. mylar bag has many advantages, which is why it can be applied in many different industries such as food industry, electronics industry, medical beauty industry, daily chemical and industrial materials.

(1)Can meet the diversified protection needs of goods and improve the value preservation life of goods.
Mylar bag can be composed of different materials, each of which has its own characteristics to protect goods and improve the value preservation life of goods. Usually it can meet the requirements for water vapor barrier, gas barrier, oil and grease resistance, oil-based solvent resistance, rust prevention, corrosion prevention, electromagnetic radiation prevention, electrostatic prevention, chemical resistance, aseptic preservation, non-toxic and pollution-free.

(2)Simple process and easy operation and use.
When making mylar bag, as long as you purchase good quality machines, you can produce a large amount of mylar bag. The technology is easy to master. For consumers, mylar bag is easy to use in operation and easy to open for consumption.

(3)Especially suitable for sales with strong product attraction.
Mylar bag can be regarded as the most affinity packaging method because of its light structure and comfortable feel. The characteristic of color printing on the package also makes it easy for manufacturers to fully express product information and characteristics to attract consumers to buy this product.

(4)Low packaging cost and transportation cost
Since most soft packages are made up of thin films and occupy small space for packaging materials, transportation is very convenient. The total cost is greatly reduced compared with that of rigid packages.

2.Characteristics of 7 mylar bag printing materials
Each soft package usually has many different patterns and colors printed on it to attract consumers to buy products.
The printing of mylar bag is divided into three ways: surface printing, inside printing without compounding and inside printing with compounding. Surface printing refers to ink printing on the outer surface of the package, inside printing without compounding refers to pattern printing on the inner side of the package, which may come into contact with the package contents, and inside printing with compounding refers to inside printing used in composite packaging. The basic layer materials for composite packaging printing are also distinguished.

There are 7 different types of basic printing materials, each with its own unique characteristics suitable for different types of mylar bag.

BOPP
It is the most common mylar bag printing material. There should be no slight pits in the ink when printing, otherwise it will affect the shallow part of the mesh. Special attention should be paid to heat shrinkage, surface tension and surface smoothness. The printing tension should be moderate and the drying temperature should be below 80℃.

BOPET
Because PET film is usually thin, a larger tension is required for production during printing. For ink parts, selectivity exists and professional ink is preferred as general ink can easily peel off printed content. The workshop can maintain a certain humidity during printing, which helps withstand higher drying temperatures.

BOPA
The biggest feature is that it is easy to absorb moisture and deform, so special attention should be paid to this key point during printing. Because it is easy to absorb moisture and deform, it should be used immediately after opening and any remaining film should be immediately sealed in moisture-proof packaging. The printed BOPA film should be immediately transferred to the next process for composite processing. If it cannot be compounded immediately, it should be sealed and stored for no more than 24 hours.

K-coated film
Its thickness uniformity is not very good and its surface is not smooth enough. PVDC is stiff and brittle, so the pressure and tension during printing cannot be too high and overprinting difficulty is high. It has some selectivity for solvents; using incorrect solvents will cause coating melting. The solvent residue in the print module is large and easy to stick; therefore special attention should be paid to drying and cooling.

Matte film Printing
It can use OPP technology for inside printing on its glossy side; its surface matte layer cannot withstand high temperatures so drying temperature must be controlled.

Pearl film Printing
It uses surface ink for surface printing; transparent surface ink is preferred for use in hot shrink film printing at lower drying temperatures; professional hot shrink ink must be selected to ensure that printed ink does not fall off when hot shrinkage occurs.

CPP,CPE
They are unstretched PP/PE films with low print tension but high overprinting difficulty; when designing patterns, deformation amount of patterns must be fully considered.

3.Structure and recombination for mylar bag
The structure of flexible packaging is as the name suggests, made up of different layers of materials. From a simple architecture perspective, flexible packaging can be divided into three layers. The outermost layer material is usually PET, NY(PA), OPP or paper, the middle layer material is Al, VMPET, PET or NY(PA), and the inner layer material is PE, CPP or VMCPP. An adhesive is coated between the outer layer, middle layer and inner layer to bond these three layers together.
The adhesive used in flexible packaging (PUA) As mentioned earlier, an adhesive is coated between each layer of flexible packaging to bond them together. The adhesives used by Xintongda Plastic Products Co., Ltd. can be divided into two kinds: solvent-free and ordinary.
Solvent-free type Solvent-free adhesives are environmentally friendly adhesives that do not emit VOCs during the bonding process. They have advantages such as low cost, fast composite speed, high degree of automation and low energy consumption.
General type General adhesives have advantages such as transparency, flexibility and excellent heat resistance performance. They have high initial adhesion strength and aluminum/plastic composite products have high peel strength.

In daily life, many items require adhesives for bonding but we are rarely aware of their existence. Just like flexible packaging which uses adhesives to bond different surface layers together. For example, in the printing workshop of Xintongda Plastic Products Co., Ltd. which understands the bonding and structure of different layers in flexible packaging very well. The surface of flexible packaging requires rich patterns and colors to attract consumers to purchase. During the printing process, printing workshop will first print the pattern on a thin film and then use an adhesive to bond the film with patterns to other surface layers. The soft coated adhesive (PUA) we use with excellent bonding effect for multiple films and has advantages such as not affecting ink printing quality, high initial bonding strength, heat resistance and aging resistance etc. If you need more product information please contact us.
